Direct Primary Care Master Class

Why Have a Direct Primary care master Class?

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, many major Direct Primary Care (DPC) conferences have been held online only. However, a lot of doctors have a hard time learning in this format and these online events miss out on the best part of conferences - one-on-one conversations that can be transformational.

We want to bring back those transformational moments with our Direct Primary Care Master Class. We hosted a DPC mastermind weekend in May 2021, and it was a rousing success! Due to the success of the event and the great response from our attendees, we are hosting a second Master Class in August 2021!

Looking to make a weekend out of it?

If you’re looking to hang out on the Friday before or the Sunday after the Direct Primary Care Master Class and see the best of what Detroit has to offer, we would suggest:

  • The Detroit Riverwalk - a beautiful 3.5 mile riverwalk that looks out at our Canadian neighbors to the south. The Riverwalk is a great place for a morning run, a pleasant stroll, or a bike ride.

  • Belle Isle - the jewel of Detroit, an island about 3 miles east of downtown with a Conservatory, an Aquarium, lush gardens, hiking paths, a beach, a Carillon Tower, and a grand fountain (Scott Fountain).

  • Campus Martius - the park in the center of downtown with an upscale restaurant, a green space, concerts, and walking distance to other major amenities downtown.

  • Eastern Market - one of Detroit’s oldest and most vibrant neighborhoods centered around a farmer’s market that sells fresh produce on Saturday mornings and other days during the week. The market is surrounded by breweries, distilleries, restaurants, boutiques, and food and beverage shops.

  • The Detroit Institute of Arts - a collection that rivals any major metropolitan museum, with stunning architecture, especially in the Great Hall, and awe-inspiring murals by Diego Rivera in the Rivera Court

Amanda Preimesberger, MD attended the master class in 2020 and is now starting her own DPC practice.

Endorsement from a Past Attendee

"The weekend with Paul and Julie was high yield, full of must-know social media tips, marketing and business pearls for any practice in the early phases of launch. It's invaluable to have the opportunity to visit another practice and connect with other experienced direct care docs in a small group setting." - Amanda Preimesberger, MD of rootsMD Direct Care Family Medicine, attendee of the 2020 direct primary care master class (last year, Dr. Paul Thomas of Plum Health DPC hosted the program with Dr. Julie Gunther of SparkMD).

What does the fee go towards?

After covering our expenses for the course, course proceeds will go towards a patient care fund for our practice. Inevitably, we care for patients who requires an MRI or a Colonoscopy, but they’re unable to pay for the cost of the test. Part of the reason why we’re putting this course together is to create a win-win-win - we love to teach, there are many doctors who want to learn this information, and our patients will benefit from being able to cover the cost of some expensive testing that they will require in the future.

THe Coolest Part of the DPC Master Class

The coolest part of the DPC Master Class is the cohort of doctors that you get to meet during your time in Detroit. We set up multiple opportunities to create lasting connections between your classmates so that you can have an accountability partner that can help you grow over time. Our doctors learn a lot from the course, but they also learn so much more from each other!

The coolest part of the Direct Primary Care Master Class is the ability to grow with colleagues who are on a similar journey!
